Playero Fest 2022

When looking for outdoor events in Denver never forget to check out Civic Center Park located in the heart of Denver! And this past weekend Civic Center Park played host to Playero Fest 2022. If you're curious, 'playero' translates to 'beach' and the festival certainly lived up to it's name! Not only were there luchadores and food so delicious you'll have to take some home too there was live Mexican music and dancing. And the most unforgettable part? A very special celebrity that made all the women swoon and all the men envious - Julio César Chávez, famous former professional and International Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee.

Julio César Chávez

A retired Mexican boxer, Chávez was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011. A six-time world champion in three divisions during his 25 year career and was ranked #24 on ESPN's "50 Greatest Boxers of All Time". One of Mexico's most beloved sports figure, Chávez continues to inspire worldwide with a recorded 107 of 115 matches won, winning over 27 world titles, 31 title fight victories, 31 title fights, and 21 title defenses win by knockout. GUINNESS ATTEMPT

One of the highlights celebrated during Playero Fest? The official Guinness World Record attempt produced by El Coco Pirata to make and consume the largest shrimp cocktail. As of August 7, 2022, El Coco Pirata LLC, Francisco Cuevas (Mexico), Camelia Robles (Mexico), and the City and County of Denver are recognized for this amazing achievement at Civic Center Park. Everyone got the chance to play a momentous role by taking part in consuming every last drop and bite, you could even see volunteers in designated shirts passing around cups to every person they passed. It was a labor of love for us all.
